I came across this Gustav Klimt inspired lesson on Deep Space Sparkle. We did this project over the last 2 weeks of term before the Christmas break.
After looking at some examples of Klimt’s work, the kids started to paint their own trees with gold paint. They started with the trunk and then worked on the spirally branches. For most of them, this was the first time they had painted straight onto paper with a paintbrush (no drawing outlines in pencil first). They then used the black paint to outline their trees (some of the younger ones found this part quite tricky), before adding in detail with the white paint. Finally, and because it was Christmas, they were given free rein with the sequins and sparkles to decorate their trees. Love the results.
