One of my (and the kids) favourite projects of the year.
Oil pastel on black sugar paper (A3). We looked at the work of Amedeo Modigliani, noting his elongated faces, large eyes, black outlines. Kids undertook a guided drawing to get the correct elongated proportions of a Modigliani portrait. I encouraged them to take up the whole paper. They had free rein on whether to draw themselves or someone else / male or female etc. They turned out fantastic! Personal favourite has to be “Grumpy Dad with tattooed neck!”
